About Paul Dymond - Photographer

It all started with a Melbourne kid with a sense of curiosity, a backpack, 145 rolls of slide film and a huge continent to explore - Africa. From Africa and beyond, to over 50 countries, my thirst for adventure and the next great image has taken me all around the world, before landing in one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Winding up in Cairns 10 years ago couldn't have been more fortuitous for a lover of photography  whose great passion is to tell visual stories. Those photographic tales might be of culture, people or places but the subject is the main character. My camera is just a witness.

Fluent in the language of both natural and artificial light, I aim to let the essence of the subject shine through. For the story to unfold in front of my lens. Whether it be as a quiet observer, or as a director of the image-making process I aim to create images that convey the true spirit of the subject.

Listening and collaborating with my assignment clients is my first priority and creating stunning images together the result. When people see the images I want them to ask questions about what lies inside the frame. When the photographs encourage the viewer to go beyond merely "Gee that's a nice photo" then I have succeeded.

My photographs (both stock and assignment) and articles have appeared in various magazines, newspapers and advertisements around the world.
